One dead, another hurt at Abohar park
Two young men were found critically injured at Jayaprakash Narayan Park, Abohar on Tuesday. One of them had died on the spot, while the other victim was taken to the Civil Hospital by some social activists. The victim was sent to AIIMS Bathinda after receiving first aid.
The crime scene triggered panic in the surrounding areas as the park is located near two schools and shares its wall with Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) office.
DSP Sujhwinder Singh Brar took the body of the deceased to the mortuary for identification and post-mortem. The victim was identified as Ravi Khanna (21) and the injured youth was recognised as Vikram Bhonia (18), both residents of Arya Nagar.
SP Karanvir Singh called the Mobile Forensic Unit and other experts to collect evidence from the site. There were injury marks found on the deceased’s neck and other parts. The police also checked the CCTV cameras in the surrounding area.
A case was eventually registered at City-2 police station against four suspects, namely, Rahul Singh of Durga Nagari, Rohit of Nai Abadi, Aman of Arya Nagar and Mani Gugga of Nai Abadi, under sections 103 and 115 of the BNS, based on the deceased’s brother Anil Kumar’s statement. The SP said it seemed to be a case of old enmity and the suspects would be arrested soon.
During a preliminary investigation, it was also discovered that some cases of robbery, assault and drug peddling were registered against the deceased.
