A national-level conference on “Mission Olympics 2036: Journey from 7 to 70 Medals” inaugurated at the Sports University of Haryana, Rai, on Friday. Olympian Neeraj Chopra and Vice-Chancellor and former DGP Ashok Kumar inaugurated the national convention by lighting the lamp.

Ashok Kumar said the main objective of the conference was to increase the number of medals in the 2036 Olympics. In this context, he had made an effort to bring the country’s eminent journalists, sports personalities, administrators, principals, including Olympian Neeraj Chopra, on a single platform to get to the ground reality and achieve the goal.

Neeraj Chopra first congratulated the medal winners at the Paris Olympics and said there was a need to build more stadiums in our country.

Neeraj said to nourish sports, it was necessary that the talent of children should be identified at the school level and provide them with the right guidance. Chopra interacted with students and shared his experiences with them. Senior journalists Rajaraman, Vikrant Gupta, IPS Pankaj Nain, former Director Sports Haryana and Sanjay Saraswat former DDG, Sports Authority of India, also shared their views. Vikrant Gupta emphasised on making India a sports-loving nation.

Addressing the players at the closure session Governor Bandaru Dattatreya said parents, schoolteachers, sportspersons’ coaches, sports scientists and the government all have an equal role in making a good sportsperson.

The Governor said the players of Haryana had made the state and the country proud in the Paris Olympics by clinching medals. Haryana is a hub of sports. Dattatreya congratulated the Sports University for organising such a good event and said in the present era sports was not just a demonstration of physical efficiency and skill but any country might give the message of its progress, technology and economic progress to the whole world.
