Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dhirendra Khadgata has directed officials to ensure the construction of a road along the elevated railway track at the earliest. The structures lying under the railway track should also be removed, he said.

The construction of this around 5-km-long road is being awaited by locals for a long time. The road will help residents of nearby localities in reach the railway station in a short span of time. At present, these residents have to pass through congested roads of the old city to reach the station. The Gandhi Camp and other nearby areas would also develop at a fast pace with the construction of the road.

The officers concerned have also been instructed to set up a library, gym, women's culture centre and gram sachivalya in every village so that villagers do not have to go to other places for that.

The DC issued the directions while listening to the public grievances on Tuesday. He also asked officials to prepare a list of anganwadi centres operating from rented buildings. He directed them to ensure power and water facilities in all the centres.

“The district administration will promote self-help groups, so the Chief Executive Officer, Zila Parishad, has been directed to promote self-help groups interested in flower nurseries, catering, canteens in markets and tent work in the district. The district administration will provide work to these self-help groups in government programmes while the rates for the above will be determined by the district administration,” said Khadgata.

While hearing a complaint, the DC also instructed the revenue officials to resolve all cases pertaining to land division lying pending in the tehsils quickly so that people do not have to face any problems.

Khadgata asked officers of the Public Health Engineering Department and Municipal Corporation to encourage people in urban areas to get their sewer connections regularised.

Discussing the issue of cleanliness in parks, the DC directed officials to identify bodies which are ready to ensure maintenance and cleanliness of the parks in urban areas. He directed that challans be issued to those who litter waste on roads.
