NRI woman's chain snatched in Mohali; incident on camera

A shocking video of a snatching incident in Phase-3A of Mohali has surfaced in which an unidentified masked youth chased two women returning from the market and fled with a gold chain of one of them.

Victim, an NRI, around 35 years, had come from Germany recently. She shrieked and tried to run but the snatcher chased her in broad daylight and snatched her chain.

The incident took place on October 12 around 5:42 pm when a youth with covered face tried to snatch the gold chain of the woman in a park but failed in his first attempt. The two women tried to run away but the snatcher chased one of them and finally managed to snatch the chain from her neck on the road and fled. She was left in shock with bruises on her neck.

In the CCTV footage, it was seen that there was no one in the vicinity of the victim’s house.

The police have registered a snatching case at Mataur police station.

“The suspect will be nabbed soon. Strict action will be taken against him,” the officials said.
