Now, Mohali residents to get DL, RC on the doorstep

People living in Mohali district will now be able to get their driving licence and registration certificate by post, according to an agreement signed between the Chandigarh Postal Division and the Punjab State Transport Commissioner.
The Punjab State Transport Department will now utilise Speed Post Service under the Book Now Pay Later (BNPL) scheme of the India Post for delivery of driving licence or registration certificate smart cards (SCOSTA) across Punjab.
At present, Mohali residents collect their driving licence or registration certificate from respective offices. With the commencement of this agreement, now the driving licence/registration certificate issued by the Department of State Transport, Punjab, will be delivered by the India Post on the doorstep of Punjab-based applicants.
The articles sent will be delivered under receipt. Beneficiaries will also be able to track their consignments on the website of the India Post with a unique Speed Post tracking ID.
The Department of Posts will provide free pick-up facility for 5,000 articles on a daily basis from a central location of the Punjab State Transport Department and articles so collected will be booked at the BNPL centre, Sector 17.
The BNPL facility of Speed Post Service is also being availed by many other central and state governments and various departments of the UT Administration.
