Now, AI to detect fake number plates on vehicles in Gurugram

Taking advantage of technological advancements, the Gurugram police have started detecting fake number plates of motor vehicles with the help of artificial intelligence (AI).

They have partnered with Staqu Technologies to implement an AI-driven vehicle number plate recognition system, which helps the existing CCTV cameras to automatically scan and verify number plates with official data of the regional transport authority.

It enhances the capabilities of law-enforcement agencies and promotes public safety as the platform instantly identifies discrepancies and sends alerts to the authorities concerned in real time.

1,500 suspected violations identified

• The Gurugram police have partnered with Staqu Technologies to implement an AI-driven vehicle number plate recognition system.
• It helps the existing CCTV cameras to automatically scan and verify number plates against the official data of the regional transport authority.
• Besides, the platform instantly identifies discrepancies and sends alerts to the authorities concerned in real time
• Within a few days after the system was implemented at two checkpoints, the technology has identified 1,500 vehicles with suspicious number plates.

Besides, the system instantly cross-verifies vehicles’ number plates with the government records and is even capable of identifying anomalies like fake number plates, stolen vehicles and blacklisted vehicles.

Gurugram Police Commissioner Vikas Kumar Arora said, “The implementation of Staqu Company’s AI-based technology has helped the Gurugram Police in identifying many defaulters in just a few weeks. This collaboration marks a significant advancement in our surveillance efforts.”

As per the available details, within a few days of implementation at two checkpoints, the technology has successfully identified 1,500 vehicles with suspicious number plates.

The whole system is based on a software named JARVIS, which has been developed by the Staqu Technologies Company. This software is equipped with artificial intelligence, patented technology and unique capabilities. It is an audio-video analytics and management technology platform that provides security-related solutions.
