In view of fresh directions issued by the state government due to the increasing number of Covid-19 cases, the District Magistrate has issued revised orders under Section 144 to contain the further spread of the virus in the district.

District Magistrate Girish Dayalan said social gatherings should be strictly restricted to five persons and gatherings at marriages and other social functions should be restricted to 30 persons (instead of 50) and funerals to 20 persons. The management of marriage palaces/hotels should adhere to these orders in letter and spirit. In case of any violation, their licences should be suspended forthwith.

Dayalan said other public gatherings should be strictly disallowed and FIRs would be registered against the violators.

He further said the new orders mandated wearing of masks in workplaces/offices/closed places and said all heads in the departments in the district were to ensure that public dealing in offices should be curtailed to cater to need-based and urgent issues. The online public grievance redressal system is to be extensively popularised and used.

Dayalan said there should be no physical presentation of demand charters by associations and serving of tea, etc, should be avoided.
