Rupa (25) was one of the shooters who killed singer Sidhu Moosewala in Mansa district on May 29.

He met the same fate

No one in the family has sympathy for Rupa. He killed innocent people and everyone in the family believed that he must meet the same fate. Baljinder Singh, Jagroop Singh’s father

“I am still to decide on claiming my son’s body. I will consult the village sarpanch and others,” says Baljinder, adding the family had disowned Rupa from the property four years ago.

As soon as villagers heard the news of Rupa’s death on TV channels, they visited his house in the district’s Jaura village and expressed their condolences.

Baljinder says no one in the family had sympathy for Rupa. “He killed innocent people and everyone in the family believed that he must meet the same fate.”

Jaura sarpanch Avtar Singh Billa says Rupa was hooked on to drugs at a young age. “Ever since his release from jail two years ago, he was not seen in the village,” he notes.

Rupa came in contact with gangsters in jail. “When his parents stopped giving him money, he started looting cash to buy drugs,” the sarpanch adds. Baljinder owns two acres. He operates four-wheelers to make ends meet. Rupa’s younger brother Ranjodh Singh is in the Army.

Billa says he has suggested Baljinder to claim his son’s body and perform the last rites.
