No 'Patiala Peg' please: Diljit Dosanjh told not to glorify drugs, violence during Chandigarh concert
The Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) has issued specific restrictions for singer Diljit Dosanjh ahead of his December 14 show at Exhibition Ground, Sector 34 here.
The singer, who is set to perform in Chandigarh as part of his 'Dil-Luminati' India Tour, has been advised to avoid singing songs that promote alcohol, drugs and violence.
“Avoid to perform songs i.e. Patiala Peg, 5 Tara, Case etc. even with twisted words in which alcohol, drugs and violence are promoted. These songs affect the children of impressionable age,” the child rights body said in an advisory on Wednesday.
The commission also emphasized that alcohol should not be served to youngsters below 25 years which is punishable under JJ Act and other provisions of law.
Citing a WHO report, the commission in its advisory asked the singer not to invite children on stage during the show, where peak sound pressure level is above 120db, saying it is ‘harmful’ for them.
The WHO report, cited in the advisory, states that adults should not be exposed to sound with a peak sound pressure level above 140db and for children, the level is reduced to 120 db.
This advisory comes in the wake of concerns raised during Dosanjh's concerts in Hyderabad and Delhi, warning him against the promotion of alcohol and drugs.
