No dearth of funds for development: Minister
Jalandhar, February 8
Punjab Local Bodies Minister Balkar Singh today said the government would provide city-like facilities even in rural areas and it had no dearth of funds for development.
The minister was chairing a meeting with officials of various departments here at Kartarpur Improvement Trust to review the pace of ongoing development works of the Assembly segment.
Singh reviewed ongoing development works related to Panchayat Department, Local Bodies Department, PSPCL, besides others.
He issued directions to PSPCL officials to complete various ongoing works in the circle within the stipulated time and said any kind of delay in these works would be highly unwarranted.
He asked the officials that before the onset of the summer season, all maintenance-related works in the entire area should be completed so that no consumer had to face any problem. He also interacted with panchayats of the area present here and said the Punjab Government was releasing equal funds for development works to all panchayats without any discrimination.
Meanwhile, he also reviewed the Suwidha camps being organised under the “Aap Di Sarkar, Aap De Dwar” scheme.
The Local Bodies Minister told the officials that the objective of this scheme was to provide all citizen services to people near their homes. Hence, there should not be
any negligence in this task. He said these camps were getting huge support from people.
