New Delhi, July 10

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday clarified that there is no change in curriculum except for Classes 3 and 6. It instructed schools to continue using the same textbooks as the previous year for all classes except for Classes 3 and 6.

The Board said the National Council of Educational Research (NCERT) had already informed in March that new syllabi and textbooks for grades 3 and 6 were under development.

‘To allay any misgivings and for greater clarity, it is reiterated that for all classes other than 3 and 6, there is no change to the existing curriculum or textbooks. Schools are once again instructed to continue using the same textbooks for these classes as they did in the previous academic year (2023-24),’ CBSE said on X.

‘There will be no changes to the curriculum and textbooks for other classes for the academic year 2024-25, which commences on April 1, 2024. Schools are requested to share the curriculum for 2024-25, available on the CBSE website, with all students and teachers. The CBSE curriculum for Classes 9 to 12 for 2024-25 can be accessed in the Secondary & Senior Secondary School Curriculum,’ the board added.

‘Additionally, NCERT is developing a bridge course for Class 6 and concise guidelines for Class 3 to facilitate a seamless transition to the new pedagogical practices and areas of study aligned with the National Curriculum Framework for School Education 2023,’ CBSE said.

These resources will be provided to schools online once they are received from NCERT. CBSE will also organise capacity-building programs for school heads and teachers to familiarise them with the new teaching-learning perspectives envisioned in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

In a recent update, CBSE emphasised the importance of adhering to the curriculum guidelines for Classes 9 to 12, which includes academic content, examination syllabi, learning outcomes, pedagogical practices, and assessment guidelines.
