NIRF ranking: GNDU among top 50 universities in country

Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) has ranked 44th among the universities in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking 2022 that were released today. This is the highest ranking achieved by the university in the NIRF and it is now among the top 50 universities at the national level, ahead of renowned institutions like University of Bombay, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Bangalore university among others.

It is the only state-funded public university of northern region (considering Jammu, Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh) to figure among top 44 positions in India.

Last year, GNDU had bagged the 53rd position among universities. Members of the teaching and non-teaching faculty and employees association celebrated the feat along with VC Prof Dr Jaspal Singh Sandhu.

Earlier this year, GNDU achieved a ranking of 19th by AD (Alper-Doger) Scientific Index-2022, among 2,146 universities surveyed by them at the national level. The university has also been indexed at the 155th position out of the 6,569 universities of the Asia. Globally, the university has been ranked 824th out of 14,339 universities in the world surveyed by Google Scholar.

Ninety-one scientists of the university have also been indexed in AD-Scientific Index-2022. The index further covers 16 scientists of GNDU in the list of top 100,000 scientists.

Last year, the Centre for World University Ranking (CWUR), an independent international assessment agency that evaluates institutes of higher education world-wide on the basis of stringent objective parameters since 2012, had ranked Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) among the top 9 per cent universities of the world.
