Nine alumni of Armed Forces Preparatory Institutes in Mohali have become commissioned officers in the defence services. Arshdeep Kaur, an alumna of Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (AFPI) for girls, has been commissioned as a Flying Officer in the Indian Air Force. She is the daughter of Daljinder Pal Singh, a businessman from Khamano in Fatehgarh Sahib district.

Eight other alumni, all from Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (MRSAFPI) for boys, have also been commissioned. Two of them, Gursher Singh Cheema from Sangrur district and Pratham Parmar from Kapurthala, have joined the Indian Air Force.

The other six, Kritin Gupta from Ludhiana, Bhart Sharma and Sahildeep Singh from Amritsar, Sahilpreet Singh Sandhu from Patiala, Shiv Kumar from Kapurthala, and Uttam Malik from Bhatinda, have been commissioned as Lieutenants in the Indian Army.
