The Mandi police have registered three cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and arrested nine peddlers in the past two days.

Yesterday, a case was registered at Aut police station after 467 grams of charas was seized from two persons travelling from Kullu to Mandi. The duo hailing from Haryana was arrested.

According to Mandi SP Sakshi Verma, in a coordinated operation on October 19, the Mandi police conducted simultaneous raids based on confidential information. At Taliyahad, the raid led to the recovery of 20 grams of heroin from four individuals.

“Another raid at a house on the Jail Road led to the recovery of 34 grams of heroin from three individuals, all of whom have been involved in drug-related offences earlier. The case was registered under Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act as well as Section 111 of the new Criminal Laws for Organised Crimes,” the SP said.

All arrested individuals were presented before a trial court, which remanded them in police custody.
