The search for two missing persons out of the 11 who were swept away in the strong current of water in the flood accident in Jejon Choe on Sunday continued throughout the day on Monday. The bodies of nine persons who were taken out of the Choe on Sunday handed over to their relatives after postmortem.
Under the supervision of Garhshankar SDM and DSP, teams of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) as well as people from nearby villages are being formed to search for the two missing persons and announcements are also being made in the villages regarding the same.
Apart from this, sniffer dogs have also been engaged in the search operation.
During this time, Cabinet Minister Punjab Brahma Shankar Jimpa and MP Rajkumar Chabbewal reached the mortuary of the Civil Hospital in Hoshiarpur and expressed condolences to the families of the flood victims. Jimpa said the Punjab Government would provide help to the families of the deceased. The Chief Minister has already announced an assistance amount of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased.
Chabbewal noted that the government was making every possible effort to locate the missing persons. He added that concrete steps would be taken to prevent such accidents in the future.
