Nine arrested with 10 stolen motorcycles from Patti
The Patti (City) police have arrested nine persons and recovered 10 stolen two-wheelers — five motorcycles and five mopeds. Among the nine persons, two are vehicle lifters and the other seven, including a woman, are purchasers of stolen vehicles.
SP (Investigation) Ajayraj Singh said here on Wednesday that all the accused are residents of Patti town from different wards. The SP said Uday Singh and Sajanpreet Singh are vehicle lifters who used to steal vehicles from busy areas of Amritsar. They sold these vehicles to residents of Patti.
The SP said vehicle purchasers have been identified as Mandeep Kaur, Karan Kumar, Kawaljit Singh, Raj, Ajay Kumar and Lal Singh. Both accused Uday Singh and Sarajpreet Singh were arrested with two motorcycles from the Kairon road in Patti and they failed to produce any document of the motorcycles they were riding.
They confessed that they had stolen the bikes from Amritsar and were on way to sell these. On their interrogation, the other accused were arrested with the stolen bikes which they purchased from Uday Singh and Sajanpreet Singh. The accused have been booked under Sections 303 (2), 317 (2) and 317 (4) of the BNS by the Patti (city) police.
