Neha & Krishabh named best athletes at state-level meet
Neha Kumari of Kangra and Krishabh Rajguru of Hamiprur were adjudged the best athletes of the Under -19 State Athletics Championship, which concluded here yesterday.
In the women’s category, Kangra district bagged overall trophy, and the Hamirpur team was adjudged the runners-up. In the men’s category, Hamirpur bagged the overall trophy and Una district was adjudged
the runners-up.
As many as 422 athletes participated in the state-level championship, which was organised by the State Schools Sports Association and hosted by the District Schools Sports Association, Hamirpur, at the Sports Complex.
As many as 195 girls and 227 boys from 12 districts and two sports hostels participated in the event.
Congress leader Dr Pushpinder Verma awarded the prizes to the winners at the valedictory function.
Dr Verma said sports played important role in youngsters’ personality development.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu was encouraging sports in the state, he added.
He congratulated the winners and appreciated the organising team for conducting the event.
Congress leaders and officials of the state and district sports associations were among those present at the event.
