In a major boost for infrastructure in Kinnaur district, Jagat Singh Negi, Minister for Revenue, Horticulture, Tribal Development and Public Grievance Redressal, laid the foundation stone for a 6-km road to Ruunang village in Yula Panchayat, Nichar Development Block. The project, valued at Rs 11 crore, aims to enhance connectivity in the remote region. He also inaugurated the foundation for a community centre in Kilba Panchayat, Kalpa Development Block, with a budget of Rs 1.14 crore.

Addressing locals in Kilba, Negi assured them of further infrastructure improvements. Plans include preparing a proposal to link Kilba Kanda to the main road, implementing a drainage system in phases and repairing the veterinary hospital building. He also highlighted a Rs 26 crore allocation to modernise Kalpa Mini Stadium to foster sports among Kinnaur’s youth.

Negi stressed that the government, led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, prioritises inclusive development, especially in tribal regions. He committed to granting land rights to marginalised groups under the Forest Rights Act of 2006, with strict instructions to officials for swift action. Additionally, he emphasised the government’s commitment to empowering disadvantaged groups through legislation such as the Right to Information Act (2005), MGNREGA (2005), and the Nau-Tod Act (1968), all introduced by the Congress.
