NEET-UG toppers down to 17 from 61 in revised list

The number of NEET-UG toppers has dropped from 61 to 17 in the revised merit list declared by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Friday.
The top 17, who scored a perfect 720 (marks) with a percentile of 99.99, represent both male and female candidates from regions such as Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Punjab, West Bengal and Kerala. While six students have scored 716 of 720 marks, 76 have secured 715. The top 100 students include 20 females.
In the first result declared by the NTA on June 4, the all-India rank 1 was shared by 67 students. Among them, six were awarded grace marks for the time lost due to invigilator errors and 44 students received grace marks for an incorrect physics question.
The results were revised following a Supreme Court directive on July 23 to withdraw grace marks awarded to a select group of students for a physics question.
This is the third scorecard of the NEET-UG released by the NTA.
As many as 23,33,162 students appeared for the exam, of whom 13,15,853 qualified. From Bihar and Jharkhand, the epicentre of paper leaks, 64,916 and 17,894 students, respectively, have qualified.
There are 1.08 lakh medical seats in India of which 56,000 are in government medical colleges.
