National Lok Adalat: Over 12K cases settled, Rs 188-cr awards passed

Of the total 16,229 cases that were taken up, 12,488 cases were disposed of by virtue of compromise and awards of Rs 1,88,77,33,432 were passed by different benches at the National Lok Adalat in Mohali.

A total of 16,229 pre-litigative and pending Criminal Compoundable Offences, NI Act cases under Section 138, bank recovery cases, MACT cases, matrimonial disputes, labour disputes, land acquisition cases, electricity and water bills (excluding non-compoundable theft cases), service matters relating to pay and allowances and retiral benefits, revenue cases and other civil cases were taken up.

Seventeen benches were constituted at District Headquarters, which were being presided over by Ajit Atri, Additional District and Sessions Judge. Besides, five benches at Kharar subdivision and 4 benches at Dera Bassi subdivision, were constituted.

11,732 cases settled in Rupnagar district

Rupnagar: In Rupnagar, out of 12,381 cases, 11,732 cases were disposed of and awards of about Rs 10,48,21,277 were passed. Five benches were constituted at Rupnagar, one bench each at Sri Anandpur Sahib and at Nangal were set up.
