CHANDIGARH: A Pakistani bureaucrat was caught pocketing a wallet belonging to a visiting Kuwaiti delegate in a video that has gone viral, media reports said.

A Pakistani bureaucrat was caught pocketing a wallet belonging to a visiting Kuwaiti delegate in a video that has gone viral, media reports said. 

The six-second undated clip taken from a security camera installed in the hall of the Economic Affairs Division shows a bureaucrat, later identified by some news reports as Investment and Facilitation Joint Secretary Zarar Haider Khan, casually walking to a table where the wallet lay forgotten and slip it into his pocket, then walking away.

Leading Pakistan daily The Dawn reported that Kuwaiti delegate reported his wallet containing a good deal of money missing. The officer is believed to have first denied any wrongdoing, but later confessing to it when the video clip was shown.

Reports said an internal inquiry was currently under way.
