Telangana has extended summer vacations for schools in the district till June 15. The Directorate of School Education order announced the extension of the summer holiday a day after the state government extended the lockdown by another ten days. Summer holiday notice will apply to all schools and District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs). 

Earlier, all educational institutions were temporarily closed from March 24 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The State has been under a lockdown since then, except for minor relaxations.

Monday’s order asks the Regional Joint Directors of School Education Hyderabad and Warangal, and all District Educational Officers and DIET principals in the State to take necessary action accordingly. 

At the same time, the Telangana Government has decided to facilitate students traveling abroad for higher education by administering them the vaccine on priority after considering their admission letter. This was significant demand for this of the students wanting to travel overseas.

Taking a strong exception to the utterances of the Yoga Guru Ramdev, the Telangana Junior Doctors’ Association (TJUDA) has offered to support the nationwide “Black Day” protest on Tuesday against yoga guru Ramdev, who has mocked doctors and modern science. The doctors will observe a protest demonstration wearing black bands and won’t impact services. 

Telangana is meanwhile preparing to start opening up as the COVID number decrease slowly. Chief Secretary and Chief Commissioner of Land Administration  Somesh Kumar said the registration of documents and other transactions through the Dharani portal would resume immediately.
