Highest 9 COVID deaths in one day, 252 positive cases in Rajasthan

A highest mortality of nine patients due to Covid-19 and maximum of 252 confirmed positive cases were reported in a single day in Rajasthan on Saturday since March 3.

Three positive patients died in Sirohi, followed by two each in Jodhpur and Jaipur, and one each in Pali and Sikar, a state medical bulletin said tonight. Now death toll is now 193, and the cumulative positive tally is 8,617 with 2,685 active cases.

Among the new cases, Pali reported 41 cases followed by Jodhpur (34), Jaipur (29), Bharatpur (25), Dungarpur (17), Sikar (15), Kota (12), Sirohi (10), Udaipur (9), Churu (8), Ajmer (7), Baran (7), Barmer (7), Jalore (7), Bhilwara (4), Karauli (4), Jhalawar (3), Jhunjhunu (3), Dholpur (3), Jaisalmer (2), Nagaur (2), Ganganagar (1), Bikaner (1), and Hanumangarh (1).

Out 8,617 confirmed cases, 5,793 patients have been recovered and of them 5,079 have been discharged from the government run hospitals.

The breakup of the death toll is as follows: Jaipur (97), Jodhpur (19), Kota (16), Ajmer (8) Nagaur (8),  Pali (7), Sikar (5), Bharatpur (4), Chittorgarh (4),  Sirohi (3) Bikaner (3), Karauli (3),  Alwar (2),  Jalore (2), Banswara (2),  Bhilwara (2),  Churu (1),  Rajsamand (1), Udaipur (1), Pratapgarh (1), Sawaimadhopur (1), Jhunjhunu (1), Dauasa (1), and Tonk (1) as well as one death from another state.  OC 

Night curfew 

After taking a routine Covid-19 review meeting with the authorities concerned, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced that the night curfew will continue after Lockdown 4.0 ends on May 31 in entire state from 7 pm to 6 am. 

There would be 24X7 curfew in the containment areas depending on the presence of active cases in the Red Zone cities, he said. 

Enforce health protocol very strictly, and use technology to monitor the situation emerging on daily basis in the Covid-affected zones, the CM said, adding no slackness would be tolerated. 

Quoting the WHO warning on the resurgence of the deadly virus in July-August months, he asked the medical authorities and experts, the infrastructure and medical care be strengthened in each of 33 districts like quarantine centres, isolation wards, Covid positive wards, symptomatic wards, and screening of migrating labourers on regular basis. 

Private hospitals should provide a free treatment to Coronavirus afflicted patients in compliance to the Supreme Court’s orders, CM instructed. Immunisation programme and surveillance against the dreaded viral shall continue in entire state, he said. 

Tourism 

To bring the derailed tourism industry, the state government decided to open the historical monuments and museums for public from June 1 and there would be no entry fee for visitors in the first two weeks, a guidelines issued by the Archaeology and Museum Department said on Saturday. The department has made effective preparedness for screening of visitors and sanitization the area at the visiting places. Employees living in Covid-hot spot areas would not be deployed at the sites as a precautionary measure. These tourist places were closed since March 18 after the outbreak of pandemic in the state too.  

‘Model state’

Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s applause during various video conferences with CMs, an official spokesman said, “Rajasthan has unique strategies and emerged as a ‘model state’ under the leadership of Chief Minister.  Known to be the Gandhian philosophy follower, keeping a pro-poor approach and accessibility to the mass, under Gehlot’s leadership, the state has managed many crises like drought management, hailstorms, and locust attack, and now managing with the highest success rate is the COVID 19 pandemic.”
