The Appointments Committee of Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today picked directors for six new AIIMS in Bathinda, Bibinagar, Deogarh, Kalyani, Rae Bareli and Gorakhpur.

Dr Arvind Rajwanshi of PGIMER, Chandigarh, has been chosen as Director of AIIMS, Rae Bareli, the parliamentary segment of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

Dr Rajwanshi is currently Professor and Head, Department of Cytology and Gynaecological Pathology at PGI, Chandigarh.

Although Dr Rajwanshi will superannuate on March 31, he has been appointed to serve the rest of his term as Director of Rae Bareli, AIIMS, and will later be employed on contract.

Dr Dinesh Kumar Singh, who is at present serving as Director of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi, has been appointed Director of AIIMS, Bathinda.

Dr Singh is on deputation from BHU since December 5, 2012, when he was sent to lead RIMS in Ranchi.

Kalyani AIIMS will be headed by Dr Ramji Singh, currently professor and head of physiology at AIIMS, Patna, and Dr Saurabh Varshney has been named as Director of AIIMS, Deogarh. Dr Varshney is currently serving at AIIMS, Rishikesh.

AIIMS, Gorakhpur, will be headed by Dr Surekha Kishor, Prof, Community and Family medicine stocks, AIIMS, Rishikesh.

The new directors of AIIMS, institutes of national importance, will serve for five years from the date they assume charge or till the incumbent attains 70 years of age or until further orders whichever is the earliest.
