With their arrest the number of those arrested in this case has gone up to four. Earlier, former Nalagarh SHO Kuldeep Sharma and Head Constable Chanderkiran have been arrested in this case.

Six police personnel, namely Lakhbeer, DSP (Leave Reserve) at Baddi, Sub-Inspector Ashok Rana, constable Sunil and ASI Kalyan, who is posted with Shimla police, are accused in the case. All of them are absent from duty and have been evading arrest for several weeks.

The Baddi police, meanwhile, suspended constable Sunil for remaining missing from duty while recommendation to initiate action against DSP Lakhbeer was yet to be made to the Home Department as he had proceeded on medical leave.

The Himachal High Court had rejected the anticipatory bail applications of all six policemen in August. A case was registered against them at Nalagarh police station on December 27, 2023, on the basis of a medical report and the orders of a Nalagarh court. They are accused of torturing the couple using the third degree method during remand, causing a serious injury in the ear to the man. The case was later transferred to the CID.
