Nabha man gets five-year jail in sacrilege case
The court of Jagbir Singh Mehndiratta, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Fatehgarh Sahib, has sentenced one Sehajbir Singh, a resident of Nabha, to five years in jail and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 for 2020 sacrilege cases in gurdwaras at Tarkhanmajra and Jallah villages. Sejahbir was arrested by the granthi of Tarkhanmajra gurdwara and handed over to the police by the villagers.
District Bar Association president and advocate of the complainant, AS Dharni, said Sehajbir Singh had committed sacrilege at Gurdwara Sahibs at Tarkhanmajra and Jallah villages in 2020. One Manjot Singh, a resident of Tarkhanmajra, lodged an FIR against the accused. After a four-year trial, the CJM today pronounced the judgement in the presence of the accused.
He has been sentenced to three years under Section 295A and two years under Section 504 of the IPC. The judge said the sentence will not be concurrent and will be consecutive.
