Muktsar: Jail warder nabbed for 'drug peddling'
Muktsar, July 13
The Muktsar police have arrested three persons, including a jail warder, for allegedly trying to smuggle sedative pills and narcotics into the district jail.
A jail superintendent lodged a complaint stating that an inmate, Parveen Kumar, took his wife (Parleen Rani) and his aide on a conference call and asked the latter to supply drugs to a jail staffer.
“The incident came to light after the jail superintendent heard the call recording,” said the police.
A case has been registered against five persons, including Parveen Kumar, Parleen Rani, jail warder Kulwinder Singh, Meet and Naveen Kumar.
The police have arrested Parveen, Parleen and Kulwinder and recovered three cellphones from their possession.
Earlier, Kulwinder Singh was booked for getting payment of an inmate on his Google Pay account.
