More Haryana khaps back farmers' ‘pucca morcha’ at Kheri Chopta in Hisar

The gathering continues to swell at the ‘pucca morcha’ of farmers at Kheri Chopta village in the district as some more khap and farmers bodies have announced support to the agitation. Farmer bodies from Titoli in Rohtak district and Uchana district in Jind district arrived at the dharna site to extend support.
Meanwhile, Hisar Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh and Hansi SP Maqsood Ahmad held a meeting today in Narnaund town with representatives of leaders at the dharna in Kheri Chopta. Sources said that the farm leaders blamed some policemen, who were deployed at the site on February 23, for the violence.
The sources revealed that the administration has urged the farmer leaders not to expand the dharna and keep it peaceful.
The farmer leaders urged the police not to register any case against the farmers for the violence. They have assured the administration and police that the dharna would remain peaceful, but urged the police not to deploy their personnel whom farm activists blamed for triggering violence on February 23.
Sources said that DSP Virender Sangwan and another DSP Raj Singh have been given “rest” as they had suffered injuries in the violence. Dheeraj, DSP, Hansi, has been deployed at the Kheri Chopta site to maintain law and order.
Meanwhile, another panchayat was held in Samain village of Fatehabad district today which extended support to the farmers’ agitation. The panchayat said that there should be a joint agitation like 2021 this time too.
Khap leaders Sadhu Ram and Sube Singh Samain said that another meeting has been called on March 2 at the ‘chabutra’ of Daran khap in Uchana subdivision of Jind district to chalk the further strategy.
