Moot court competition at HPU
Campus Law Centre, Delhi, won the National Moot Court Competition organised by Department of Laws, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. In the finals, Campus Law Centre defeated Law Centre II, Delhi University. Kritika Singh of Campus Law Centre was chosen the best speaker. The winners were awarded by chief guest Justice Vivek Singh Thakur of the Himachal High Court. As many as 14 teams from across the country participated in the competition.
College teachers defer strike
The Himachal Pradesh Government College Teachers’ Association has deferred its proposed chain hunger strike after the Chief Minister’s announcement that the UGC scales would be given shortly and the matter would be taken up in the next Cabinet meeting. Considering that the government appears serious about implementing the scales, the central executive of Himachal Government College Teachers Association has decided to defer the mass hunger strike. The association, however, will continue its protest and will not evaluate the scripts of UG classes till the government invites it for talks to resolve issues.
Head girl, head boy elected
Kashish Rana (Class XII) was elected as the head girl and Shashank Rana (Class XII) as the head boy of Rainbow World School, Bhawarna, during the investiture ceremony. The event was presided over by school principal Suzana David. The captains of the four Houses were presented with respective flags and badges by the principal. The new office-bearers took oath to carry out their duties with sincerity, integrity and loyalty towards school and society.
