Molestation case: Ex-minister Sandeep Singh opposes plea on production of SIT report
Former Haryana minister Sandeep Singh has opposed the application filed by a junior woman coach before a local court for issuing direction to the state DGP to produce documents and final report pertaining to investigation done by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Haryana Police on her complaint.
The coach, who had levelled sexual harassment allegations against Sandeep Singh, has filed the application under Section 94 of the BNSS.
Singh, in his reply, said the application was sheer misuse of law and had been moved by the complainant to delay the present case. He argued that, on the one hand, the complainant had filed an application for conducting the trial on a day-to-day basis, and, on the other hand, she was delaying the trial by moving a frivolous application and was not coming forward to depose.
He said when the complainant had levelled allegations against him in the media from the office of the INLD, he had made a representation to the DGP for conducting a fair probe as the complainant was maligning his image.
He said as she never appeared before the SIT constituted by the DGP to join the inquiry or otherwise, she had no locus standi to call for the final report prepared by the SIT.
He also said the application had not been forwarded by the assistant public prosecutor.
He prayed before the court to dismiss her application.
In her application, the coach said the government had constituted an SIT vide order dated December 29, 2022, headed by Mamta Singh, Additional DGP Rohtak Range, and the report of the committee had not seen made public so far.
