Mohali MC gets funeral vans

Two funeral vans provided by NGO Parivartan were handed over to the Mohali Municipal Corporation by Health Minister and Mohali MLA Balbir Singh Sidhu here today.
Rajiv Gupta, president of the NGO, and Vikas Kaushal, general secretary, said the funeral van was made ready within 10 days. They said the NGO, which was formed by Mohali industrialists, had already improved the infrastructure of a school in Mohali.
Balbir Singh Sidhu said during the pandemic, every individual or organisation that was making efforts for public service at their level deserved applause.
On the efforts made by the Health Department, Sidhu said Mohali had witnessed the highest number of vaccinations. He said the Union Government had also lauded the efforts of the Punjab Government in the fight against the pandemic.
Highlighting the efforts of the Mohali Municipal Corporation, Sidhu said the MC would always be provided with funds for development works.
Mayor Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu said he had requested industrialists to provide funeral vans for Mohali. He thanked the office-bearers and members of the NGO formed by industrialists.
He said the maintenance work of the vans would be carried out by the Municipal Corporation and drivers would be immediately deployed. He said besides this, new sheds were also being constructed at the Mohali crematorium.
Senior Deputy Mayor Amrik Singh Somal, Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi, MC Commissioner Kamal Garg, SE Sanjay Kanwar and Mohali Industries Association president Yogesh Sagar were among those present on the occasion.
