Moga village youth booked on rape charge

A Moga-based youth has been booked for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl. The accused took the girl to some undisclosed location, where after serving her a cold drink laced with some sedatives he committed the crime.

The Sadar Jagraon police yesterday registered a case against the accused identified as Harmandeep Singh of a Moga village.

The victim told the police that one of her female friends had convinced her to have friendship with the accused. After the friendship, on November 5, when she was going to the village school, the accused made her sit in his car and took her to some place in Moga.

The victim added that she was made to drink the cold drink laced with some sedatives. Later, she was shocked when she came to know that the accused had allegedly sexually exploited her. When she protested, the accused threatened her that if she told anyone about the rape, she would have to bear the brunt.

The victim said when her mother asked about her deteriorating health, she revealed her rape. Following this, they lodged a police complaint.
