Moga, August 2
After dengue larvae were detected on the premises of Moga Bus Stand and particularly in the workshop, Deputy Commissioner Kulwant Singh issued a warning to the General Manager of Punjab Roadways, Moga, stating that strict action will be initiated if he fails to control the spread of mosquitoes in the workshop.
For the prevention of malaria, dengue and chikungunya diseases, the DC called a meeting of the departments concerned. Representatives from the departments of Health, Police, Municipal Corporation, Rural Development and Panchayat, Water Supply and Sewerage, Education and Labour, along with NGOs, were present.
The DC said there was a need to work more effectively to prevent the spread of diseases during the monsoon season. Officials from the Health Department detailed the DC on the free of cost door-to-door blood test facility.
The DC issued orders to the Rural Development and Panchayat Department to ensure the release of Gambusia (mosquito fish) to prevent the spread of vector-borne diseases.
The DC asked the civic body and local government committees to effectively conduct fogging. — TNS
