The Moga district administration has taken stringent action against a farmer who burned paddy stubble in his field, violating the ban. The farmer’s land records have been marked with a ‘red entry’ and a fine of Rs 2500 has been imposed.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Vishesh Sarangal said that the administration received information about stubble burning in a field at Said Jalalpur village (Dharmkot tehsil). Upon investigation, the allegations were found true, and subsequent action was taken.

The National Green Tribunal and Pollution Control Board have adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards stubble burning. Satellite monitoring is being used to keep a close eye on every field, the DC said.
