Model running room offering best facilities to loco pilots, says official
Ludhiana, July 12
The Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM), Northern Railway, Ferozepur, Paramdeep Singh Saini, on Friday visited the city railway station to apprise employees of the state-of-the-art facilities being offered to loco pilots and railway guards.
He also talked about further upgrade of facilities in the near future so that the railway employees have the best time to relax after tough duty hours and could prepare themselves for fresh shifts.
“Loco pilots are important members of the railway family. They have to be alert while on duty as when they return after operating trains, both their body and mind are tired. When loco pilots are out of their headquarters after completing a journey, they can come to AC rooms for rest. There, they get all modern and basic facilities. Room facility is totally free while 90 per cent subsidy is available on food,” the Senior DCP told The Tribune here on Friday.
Saini said in the past 10 years, major improvements were made in working conditions of loco pilots.
“There are a total of 67 air-conditioned rooms at the model running room facility, Ludhiana, separate rooms have been arranged for male and female loco pilots. Each room has two beds, one table and two chairs. There is a 24-hour reception with online bed-booking facility. Food is available at concessional rates. Two water coolers and RO is also available. Along with the facility of toilet, fully automatic washing machine, foot massager, library, gym, meditation room, big park, indoor and outdoor games, etc, are also available” he said.
Loco pilots and guards can book rooms online through a specially designed app ‘RRMS’. At just one click, they can book the facility.
Open gym soon for staff
The Senior DCM said soon an open gym for loco pilots and guards would be opened in the open space available in the model running room facility and many other facilities are also on cards. “The railway authorities take the best care of its employees in all respects and their welfare will always be our priority,” he added.
