MLA kicks off road projects worth Rs 8 crore in Kharar
The work of re-carpeting and tiling of roads, covering Sunny Enclave (area under the municipal corporation) and wards 1, 23, 24 and 25 was kicked off in Kharar today.
The total length of the roads being repaired under the project is nearly 22 km and it is being done at a cost of Rs 8 crore.
Kharar MLA Anmol Gagan Maan said the re-carpeting of the roads would be completed within 15 days, while the work of laying down concrete tiles would take around four months.
Listing the two most important roads being covered under the project — Hospital Road and Randhawa Road — that further join the Ludhiana Road, she said these had been awaiting repairs for a long time and now commuting on these roads would become easier.
She also said that the long-pending demand for the removal of the legacy waste dump from Daroan City and Ranjit Nagar had been met with the hiring of a firm to clear it within the year. The project is pegged at Rs 4.25 crore.
Maan said the demand for a bus stand was also going to become a reality soon as formalities were being completed.
