Mixed bag for political ‘dynasts’
The Maharashtra Assembly poll was a mixed bag for political ‘dynasts’ who contested the elections. Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), which had a dismal political outcome, saw a silver lining in its party chief Uddhav Thackeray’s son Aditya Thackeray, who won from south Mumbai’s Worli seat.

While NCP leader Nawab Malik lost the election, his daughter Sana Malik, who contested from Anushakti Nagar constituency, defeated NCP (SP) Fahad Ahmad, who is married to actress Swara Bhaskar.

Amit defeated BJP’s Archana Patil Chakurkar, who is the daughter in-law of veteran Congress leader Shivraj Patil, by a margin of 7,000 votes and Dhiraj lost to BJP’s Ramesh Karad by 6,000 votes. Nilesh Rane, son of former Union Minister and ex-Maharashtra CM Narayan Rane, won from the Kudal Assembly constituency by more than 8,000 votes.
