Missing since 2019, remains of person found in Lamdal lake
The skeletal remains of Vijay Kumar, a resident of Matti village in the Garoh area near Dharamsala who had gone missing in 2019, were recovered from the Lamdal lake in the Dhauladhar mountain ranges.
Sources said that Vijay Kumar had gone to take holy dip in Lamdal lake in the year 2019. He had been missing since then. Missing report of Vijay Kumar was registered in McLeodganj police station in August 2019.
Shepherd Suresh Kumar informed the McLeodganj police that he had seen skeletal remains of a human near the Lamdal lake while passing through the area. After Suresh Kumar’s report, the local police informed McLeodganj police station and sent a team to the spot which took the human skeleton in its possession.
Additional SP, Kangra, Veer Bahadur said that they started investigation to identify the skeleton from the clothes found near it. They also started searching their old missing persons’ cases in which Vijay Kumar’s file also came up. After that, the family members were informed. They came to the spot and identified him from the clothes found near the skeleton.
According to Additional SP Veer Bahadur, the post-mortem of the male skeleton would be done and the report, when received, would reveal the reasons of Vijay Kumar’s death.
The sources said that Vijay might have got buried under snow in the region. This year due to a prolonged dry spell, his remains surfaced due to the melting of snow and were spotted by a shepherd.
