Minister reviews arrangements for Shobha Yatra

Local Bodies Minister Balkar Singh, Chairman, Punjab Safai Karamchari Commission, Chandan Grewal, today said the government would make foolproof arrangements for the upcoming Shobha Yatra on October 16 to mark Pargat Utsav of Bhagwan Valmiki.

Presiding over a meeting with religious organisations to review the arrangements for the Shobha Yatra here, he said the elaborate arrangements would be made to ensure that people could participate in the Shobha Yatra with gaiety and enthusiasm.

He said no stone would be left unturned for making this event a huge success.

He also asked the people to participate in the Shobha Yatra with full religious fervor.

The minister said requisite arrangements would be made for traffic diversion, parking of vehicles, security arrangements, route planning, and other facilities during the Shobha Yatra, so that pilgrims do not face any sort of problem.

He mentioned that a separate meeting would be held with civil and police administration for proper arrangements of this event.

He stated that the Pargat Utsav would be celebrated with religious fervour and the government would make foolproof arrangements for the mega event.

He also announced a grant of Rs 2 lakh from his discretionary funds for holding the event smoothly.

The minister urged the people to follow the path shown by Bhagwan Valmiki. He also lauded the efforts of various organisations who work hard every year to celebrate the utsav. He reiterated that all suggestions of religious organisations would be implemented in letter and spirit.

Earlier, chairman, City Valmiki Sabha Raj Kumar Raju, president Rajesh Bhatti, Subhash Sondhi, Bishan Dass Sahota and SK Hans welcomed the minister.

Representatives of the City Valmiki Sabha, Bhartiya Valmiki Dharam Samaj and other organisations were also present at the meeting.
