State Cabinet minister Mohinder Bhagat visited the main grain market in Jalandhar on Friday and interacted with arhtiyas, asking them about the issues they were facing. However, no farmers were seen during the interaction.

The minister asked whether lifting was being done, and if 25 trucks carrying paddy were going to shellers. To this, a disappointed Kashmiri Lal, president of the Arhtiya Association, Jalandhar, replied, "Kal takk te koi 25 truck nai gaye, ajj tusi aaye toh te bhaave chale jaan (No trucks carrying paddy left the mandi yesterday, now that you are here, something may happen)".

Bhagat assured them that steps were being taken to address their issues. The minister, who was earlier with the BJP, also put the onus on the Central government, saying that they were particularly targeting Punjab. "The centre government is doing everything deliberately and has ruined everything. The produce of farmers is lying as it is. Festival season is going on and there are no payments," he stated.
