Minister lays stone of 20-km long Dasuya-Kamahi Devi road project

Public Works Minister, Punjab, Harbhajan Singh ETO has said that renovating the state roads is top priority of the Punjab Government. The government is working seriously to strengthen the road network in the state and no black spot will be left in the state.

He was addressing residents of Dasuya on Tuesday in the presence of MLA Karambir Singh Ghuman while inaugurating work on strengthening the Dasuya-Kamahi Devi road, which will be 20.23-km-long and built at a cost of Rs 9.50 crore.

Addressing a gathering on the occasion, the Public Works Minister said the road was a very important artery in the region as it connects the Jalandhar-Pathankot National Highway (NH-44) from Dasuya to Talwara, Dholwaha, Hariana with Kamahi Devi.

He said that religious places like Pandav Sarovar Temple, Baba Lal Dayal Ji Temple and Kamahi Devi Temple were located along the road. Besides, people of about 30-40 villages have to commute through

this road. He said the previous repairs on the road was done in 2013 under the Pradhan Mantri Sadak Yojana and according to the rules, it was supposed to be repaired in 2018, but the previous government did not take any improvement of this road and now this road was being constructed. He said construction work on the road would be completed by September 26. — OC
