Minister inaugurates development works
Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh inaugurated development projects worth Rs 1 crore in the villages of Lang and Majri Akalian in the district. He dedicated the newly constructed Panchayat houses to the residents of these villages. He also launched Punjab’s first fully automatic bio-compost plant in Lang village, capable of converting wet waste into fertiliser within 24 hours. Dr Balbir Singh emphasised the Punjab Government’s dedication to a holistic development under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.
He highlighted that the Panchayat House in Majri Akalian was built at a cost of Rs 40 lakh, while the one in Lang was completed for Rs 52 lakh. As part of the Swachh Bharat Mission and Swachhta Hi Seva initiative, a cutting-edge automatic bio-composter plant worth Rs 6 lakh has been installed in Lang, which is the first such facility in the state.
He announced that all village ponds would be rejuvenated and water would be used for farming. The event was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Harjinder Singh Bedi, SDM Ismit Vijay Singh and personal adviser to the minister Col JV Singh.
