Haryana Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Krishan Bedi exhorted the party workers and leaders to reach Panipat on December 9, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch “Bima Sakhi Yojana” for women empowerment.

While addressing party workers and leaders at the party's office in Kaithal on Thursday, Bedi emphasised that the scheme will provide women with opportunities as insurance agents, enabling them to earn a stable income. He said that this scheme is a part of the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC).

“Under the Bima Sakhi Yojana, women working as insurance agents will receive a monthly income of Rs 7,000 along with additional commissions based on their performance. This initiative opens a new path for women, especially those with a 10th or 12th-grade education, to contribute to their families’ income,” said Bedi.

He said this programme would bring women from different areas whether they are from rural areas, tribal or mountainous regions into the insurance sector, helping them achieve self-reliance. Bedi called it a historic step by PM Modi toward women empowerment.

“PM Modi had earlier launched the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ initiative from Panipat. Once again, he has chosen Panipat to launch another landmark programme for women’s empowerment,” he added.

While interacting with mediapersons, Bedi highlighted the state’s achievements in agriculture. “Haryana is the first state to offer MSP on 24 crops, ensure 72-hour payment, and deliver 24-hour electricity to farmers. Haryana is also leading in stubble management and water distribution,” he said while comparing Haryana’s efforts with neighbouring Punjab.
