In a major road accident, at least 30 passengers — including 20 nursing students from Government Medical College — were injured in Udhampur district.

The incident took place when a minibus carrying passengers, skidded off the road and fell into a ditch near Shiv Mandir in Salmari area.

The injured were immediately shifted to the Government Medical College for immediate medical attention. While most of the injured are stable, three individuals are reported to have received serious injuries.

Udhampur Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai visited the hospital and said a detailed inquiry would be conducted to ascertain reasons behind the accident. A preliminary inquiry suggests that brake failure might have caused the mishap. Best possible medical treatment would be given to the injured, the DC added.
