Men posing as CBI sleuths rob house

A group of men posing as CBI officials entered a house at Panchsheel Colony in Badewal and allegedly looted Rs 40,000 and three mobile phones at gunpoint.
The Sarabha Nagar police station have registered a case against four unknown people. The CCTV footage of the suspects fleeing in the car has also gone viral on Monday.
On Monday, the police arrested Tamandeep Singh, alias Ginni of Basti Sheikh Jalandhar, Vipan Kumar of Basti Danishmanda and Sushil Kumar of Basti Sheikh. One of the accused identified as Rajit, son of one the accused Sushil Kumar, is still at large.
House owner Harish Kumar said on August 31, he along with his friend Mehboob Ali was present in the house when four unknown persons posing as CBI officers, entered the house and held them hostage at gunpoint. They took away three mobile phones and Rs 40,000. The complainant claimed that they raised an alarm but by then the accused managed to flee in their car.
The complainant added that he immediately reported the matter to the police and cops from Sarabha Nagar police station reached the spot and took the footage of the CCTV camera in their custody for investigation.
The police said complainant had noted the registration number (PB08CB3459) and detail of this number was being obtained from the Transport Department to get clue. It is also possible that accused had used fake number plate.
ACP (West) Gurdev Singh, Inspector Pawan Kumar issued a joint statement on Monday. Police officials said three accused were arrested in the case while Rajit the main conspirator is yet to be arrested. “Rajit used to work in the money changer shop of Harish Kumar and after leaving job, he had now been assisting his father Sushil at a garment shop in Jalandhar. Since Rajit was aware that Harish used to keep cash at home so he with his father and two others planned a robbery by posing as CBI officers. Even a Swift car in which accused came belongs to Sushil,” added police officials.
