Meeting on no-trust move against ZP chief put off

The meeting regarding the no-confidence motion against the president of the Rohtak Zila Parishad slated to be held on Tuesday has been postponed.

"The meeting related to the no-confidence motion against the Zila Parishad president, which was scheduled to be held on November 12, has been postponed till further orders as the matter is pending before the Punjab and Haryana High Court," said Rohtak Deputy Commissioner Dhirendra Khadagta in a statement issued here today.

He said that in pursuance of the directions issued by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in COCP No. 4238/2024, a notice was issued on November 6 to hold the meeting regarding the no-confidence motion on November 12.

"Meanwhile, a Double Bench of the High Court passed an order in CWP No. 30290-2024, under which the operation of the notice dated November 6 has been stayed," the Deputy Commissioner said, adding that the information regarding the matter has been sent to all concerned.

The meeting on no-trust motion against the Zila Parishad president had been postponed twice earlier.

A majority of members of the Rohtak Zila Parishad (ZP) had sought a no-confidence motion against parishad president Manju Hooda on September 6.

A representation signed by 10 of the 14 members of the parishad was submitted in this regard.

Meanwhile, the Zila Parishad president, Manju Hooda, contested the recent Assembly election as the BJP candidate against two-time Chief Minister and veteran Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda from the Garhi-Sampla-Kiloi constituency in Rohtak district.

After the election, a meeting regarding the no-trust move was convened on October 23.

However, the meeting could not take place as the then Deputy Commissioner, Ajay Kumar, fell ill on the date fixed for the meeting.

Following that, the meeting was scheduled to be held on October 30.

However, the October 30 meeting was also cancelled on the ground that five members of the parishad had been debarred from attending the House meeting.

The parishad members have alleged that the district administration was acting under political pressure from the state government, which wanted to shield the parishad president.

Meanwhile, a woman member of the parishad, Neelam Khatri, accused the parishad president of getting her son kidnapped to force her to vote in her favour.

An FIR was registered against parishad president Manju Hooda and her husband Rajesh, aka Sarkari, on the basis of an FIR lodged by Khatri.

However, parishad president Manju Hooda has refuted the said allegations as baseless, politically motivated and aimed at tarnishing her image.
