MDU admits 2 to master's course after court's orders

Sportspersons Rupa and Kapil had earlier approached the grievances committee of MDU complaining they were denied admission to the course despite having qualified for it, while certain other applicant(s) had been admitted wrongly. However, the university did not take any action on their complaint.

However, after the complainants moved court, the MDU authorities cancelled the admissions of the students against whom the complaint had been made. Today, the university administration admitted both the complainants to the said course. The move comes after the court of Amit Sheoran, Civil Judge (Junior Division), directed the university to grant admission to Rupa and Kapil.

Welcoming the court's decision, Rupa and Kapil said: "We were disappointed on being denied admission despite having qualified for it. We moved court and finally got the justice."

Student leader Deepak Dhankhar, who supported the duo in their fight for justice, termed the decision as a triumph of justice. He sought an inquiry against MDU official(s) involved in grant of wrongful admission to unqualified student(s).

MDU, Director (Sports); Dean, Faculty of Education; and Head of the Department of Physical Education, Prof RP Garg said there was no lapse in the admission process and the admission of two applicants was cancelled after a preliminary inquiry found some discrepancies in their documents. "The matter pertaining to them is still in process, while Rupa and Kapil have been admitted on court's orders," he stated.
