MCG Commissioner inspects construction of new office building in Gurugram
Ashok Kumar Garg, Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG), inspected the construction site of the new MCG office building at Vyapar Sadar, Mehrauli Road, Sector 14, on Friday.
The new office building is being built for about Rs 208 crore, a figure that has been revised multiple times. Originally, the project was estimated to cost Rs 117 crore; however, this was revised to Rs 129.3 crore in April 2022. The latest revision increased the cost due to an expansion in the building's covered area and additional expenses for furniture and interior design. The building’s covered area has increased from 28,358 square meters to 30,987 square meters. The state government is still to approve this latest revised cost.
Garg said the building would consist of three blocks, with three basements and 10 floors. It would provide parking space for at least 450 vehicles. The ground floor would feature a Suvidha Kendra, an exhibition area, a dining/canteen facility, public amenities, an ATM, a dispensary, waiting lounges and a VIP suite.
The first floor would house the Mayor’s Office, Council Hall, Counsellor Lounge, and various waiting and rest areas. The second floor would include offices for the Additional Commissioner and Joint Commissioners, along with conference halls. The commissioner’s office would be located on the tenth floor.
Additionally, the building would feature a grand multi-purpose auditorium with a seating capacity of 700.
The construction team, including representatives from the construction agency and architect firm, Chief Engineer Manoj Yadav, Consultant OP Goyal, and Assistant Engineer Prem Singh, were also present during the inspection.
