MC teams carry out major drive against illegal slaughter around Buddha Nullah
Cracking the whip on illegal slaughtering, joint teams of the Municipal Corporation (MC) health branch and tehbazaari wing launched a major drive in the area around Buddha Nullah on Sunday.
Action was taken against illegal slaughtering at different points around the nullah including Kundanpuri, Chandar Nagar, Shivpuri, Kashmir Nagar and Kirpal Nagar, among other areas. The encroachments alongside the nullah have also been removed.
Corporation Sanitation Officer (CSO) Ashwani Sahota, CSI Surinder Dogra, Tehbazaari inspectors Sunil Kumar and Vipan Handa were part of the teams which took action against illegal slaughtering. The teams razed the temporary fish markets and confiscated the racks among other material from the meat shops involved in illegal slaughtering.
MC Joint Commissioner-cum-Zonal Commissioner (Zone A) Chetan Bunger said that the issue was raised during the meeting of a Vidhan Sabha committee held in the past as those involved in illegal slaughtering have also been dumping the waste in the nullah.
Working on the recommendations of the Vidhan Sabha committee, MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal ordered action against illegal slaughtering. The encroachments around Buddha Nullah have also been removed.
Civic body officials stated that strict warning has also issued to those involved in illegal slaughtering.
Teams have been directed to keep a regular check on such illegal activities and take strict action.
