Chamba MC scraps public toilet fee for women
Chamba, July 5
The Chamba Municipal Council has announced that women will not have to pay for using public toilets in the city and adjoining areas.
Earlier, a fee was levied on the women for using the facility. The decision was taken during a House meeting here on Thursday.
If a woman is charged for using the facility, a complaint in this regard can be done on a number, which will be issued by the civic body. The MC said action would be taken for violating the decision.
“Women will not have to pay fee for using public toilets. The Municipal Council will provide a complaint number,” said MC chief Neelam Nayar.
Meanwhile, various development projects were discussed at the meeting. Councillors raised the issues of their respective wards, including repairing pathways and defunct streetlights, and recarpeting roads. They said tenders for various development projects at the ward level should be floated at the earliest to ensure that the work commences quickly.
At the meeting, no changes were made in the house tax. To construct parking lots in TB ward, tenders will be floated within 10 days.
Old vehicles, which are not in use, of the Municipal Council will be auctioned and parking signboards will come up in all wards. The councillors will identify locations for these signboards.
